Brown's Hotel & French Sole celebrate ballet with Degas and the Ballet at the Royal Academy of Arts
London, 10 August 2011 - From 17 September until 11 December 2011, Rocco Forte’s Brown's Hotel is partnering with the award-winning shoe emporium French Sole and the Royal Academy of Arts’ to celebrate its landmark exhibition ‘Degas and the Ballet: Picturing Movement’.
To mark the exhibition, the hotel has created a unique package which includes entry to ‘Degas and the Ballet: Picturing Movement’ at The Royal Academy of Arts, focusing on Edgar Degas’s preoccupation with movement as an artist of the dance. Comprising of around 85 paintings, sculptures, pastels, prints and photographs, the exhibition traces the development of the artist’s ballet imagery throughout his career, from the documentary mode of the early 1870’s to the sensuous expressiveness of his final years.
Following a visit to the exhibition, guests are invited to French Sole on Brook Street, moments away from the Royal Academy to pick up a stunning pair of ballet pumps from the new limited edition ‘Degas’ Collection, each with an image of Degas’ Little Dancer embossed on the mirrored silver soles – these are the only flats to be seen sporting in the city!
Time then to hot foot it back to The Spa at the hotel for a relaxing ‘Tutu Tootsies pedicure’ that includes an invigorating exfoliation, followed by a warm floral milk foot soak and a pressure point massage as well as a warming Lime, Ginger and Sandalwood foot mask to sooth even the most tired of points, before the nails are shaped and painted the colour of choice.
Those who would like to treat their daughters (aged 3 -10), who are aspiring ballerinas, to a sophisticated weekend in London are invited to opt for the ‘Little Ballerina’ version of this package that includes a beautiful prima ballerina costume for the young hopeful.
The dedicated Degas Ballet Package at Brown’s Hotel includes:
• A pair of French Sole ballet pumps – from the ‘Degas Collection’ at French Sole on Brook Street, Mayfair
• Complimentary open tickets to ‘Degas and the Ballet: Picturing Movement’ exhibition at The Royal Academy of Arts
