Garrard to adorn Brown's Hotel with festive decorations with a Dickensian twist this Christmas

This December, Garrard, the world’s oldest jeweller, is creating a dazzling array of uniquely bejewelled festive decorations to adorn Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel, the first hotel ever to open in London. 

As a pre-cursor to the 200th birthday year of Charles Dickens in 2012, Stephen Webster, Creative Director of Garrard, has looked to Dickensian Britain for inspiration, drawing on the idea of pockets, which feature heavily in the classic ‘Oliver Twist’.  As an alternative to Christmas stockings, Stephen has designed a unique Christmas Garrard raspberry red pocket exclusively for Brown’s, overflowing with glittering Garrard ‘jewels’, that will be visible throughout the hotel and will decorate the magnificent Christmas tree in the reception area at Brown’s Hotel. 

“Brown’s and Garrard are so quintessentially British and have incredible history as the oldest jeweller and the oldest hotel, but both also have a distinctly contemporary edge.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to light up Brown’s Hotel this Christmas – It is going to look beautiful!” says Stephen Webster, Creative Director of Garrard.

Brown’s guests will be invited to make a donation to enter a competition for the chance to win a unique piece of Garrard jewellery.  All proceeds from the competition will go to Great Ormond
Street Hospital, the charity selected by both Stephen Webster at Garrard and Stuart Johnson, General Manager of Brown’s Hotel.  “Great Ormond Street as a charity was chosen for their extraordinary work and the hope that the team gives to sick children.  It is a privilege for us to raise funds for them.” Stuart Johnson.

Garrard’s bejewelled Christmas at Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel is to include decorations, innovative and sparkling overnight packages, a fabulous festive afternoon tea, a bespoke dazzling dining concept, twinkling treatments in The Spa, and much more - further details to follow…
