Verdura Golf & Spa Resort looks after the 'hard-to-please' Teens this half-term
Worn-down parents of heel-dragging teenagers should head to Rocco Forte’s Verdura Golf & Spa Resort in south west Sicily this October half-term with its extensive Teenager Programme, designed to entertain this notoriously difficult age group. With stroppy teenagers taken care of, parents can relax and enjoy some late summer sunshine, with daytime temperatures reaching the mid 70’s.
Verdura’s Teen’s Club (open 10am to 7pm) is a much-vaunted retreat, where even the most demanding 13-18’s are well catered for and can do as much or as little as they wish. There are a myriad of activities on offer to suit all tastes including the latest craze of Stand Up Paddling, wakeboarding, football (on the resort’s full-size football pitch), volleyball, golf, cycling, pottery, cooking and ‘mocktail’ making classes. Not forgetting the younger ones, Verdura’s Kid’s Club ensures that the four to twelve year olds are entertained with a whole host of fun activities including pizza-making, play with clay, decoupage, karaoke and drama. Outdoors (lathered in sunscreen, of course) they can burn off energy in the dedicated pool, sandpits and playground. Watersports, group tennis and swimming are also on tap, all fully supervised from 9am-7pm.

Having carefully considered what families need, Verdura offers extra beds and interconnecting rooms, childproofed before arrival for children under the age of 4, while a professional babysitting service is available at any time of day or night. For mealtimes – which can be tricky to get right for everyone – the resort adopts an inclusive, Mediterranean approach. All but one of the four restaurants welcomes children, and the Buon Giorno restaurant is open between 5.30 and 7.30pm exclusively for children’s dinners. High chairs and booster seats come as standard, as do unbreakable, colourful plates, mugs and cutlery.
