Fly over Taormina in Sicily with Helicopter

Fly to Taormina

Flying over the rolling countryside to Calatabiano Airfield, framed by the Ionian Sea in the shadow of Mount Etna, this full day tour of the hilltop town of Taormina starts with a traditional Sicilian breakfast of pastries and granita at BamBar, a local favourite. Visit the nearby Greek Theatre of Taormina where your guide will set the stage for its Greek-Roman history and architectural wonders. Lunch comes with a coastal view and dishes laden with fresh seafood at Vicolo Stretto. The evening setting sun will guide your helicopter back to Verdura Resort later that afternoon.

Planeta Ulmo Winery

Set off from our helipad on a 40-minute ride over the Turkish Steps and Valley of the Temples before landing at the Planeta Ulmo Winery. A must-see experience for wine enthusiasts, discover this picturesque wine estate and find out why their super cru Planeta Chardonnay has become an exemplary symbol of Sicily’s winemaking renaissance. Perfect for nature lovers, the estate is also a wilderness sanctuary 400 metres above sea level with views of Lake Arancio. Enjoy a light lunch in the founder’s dining room before flying back to the resort by way of the Selinunte archeological site.

Morning Hike Up Mount Etna

Setting off in the morning from our helipad, you will fly over the rolling countryside as if being pulled towards Mount Etna in the east of the island. After landing at Monaci delle Terre Nere helipad your hiking adventure will take you up the slopes of the volcano from Giovanni Sapienza Lodge. Immerse yourself in the moon-like landscape of Europe’s highest volcano with an expert guide and uncover the grumbling histories and secrets hidden within Mount Etna’s craters. Taking in scenic paths your hike will culminate in the early afternoon, returning by helicopter to Verdura Resort.

Selinunte, Agrigento & Sciacca

Begin by flying around the Agrigento Temple Valley, a UNESCO Word Heritage Site, to admire its seven ruined Doric temples. Continue to Selinunte, gazing down over the Scala dei Turchi for breath-taking views of the Temple of Hera, and cross Sciacca’s city centre on your way back.

Aeolian Islands

Take to the air for a unique perspective of the Aeolian Archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the enchanting emerald islands, starting with Vulcano, named for its crater; gliding over Lipari and its iconic rock formations, out to sea; over Salina, Panarea and Basiluzzo, and finishing with the spectacle of volcanic activity from above the isle of Stromboli.

Your short aerial journey takes flight above the Sicilian countryside, offering wonderful views over olive groves and vineyards.
