Rocco Forte Hotels Wins Prestigious Food & Wine Award

The Rocco Forte Collection is pleased to announce that it has won the prestigious Company of the Year Award from the Academy of Food and Wine Service, presented on Thursday 21st March 2002 at the Academy's annual awards ceremony at Vintner's Hall in London.

The Rocco Forte Collection, with seven five-star hotels across Europe, was recognised as a leading training provider, helping its employees to improve both their knowledge and skills in food and wine service through an extensive training programme. The company was also acknowledged by the Academy as an organisation dedicated to the development and progression of its employees, following a number of internal promotions to senior management roles within the company over the last year.

The award comes in a year when The Rocco Forte Collection has opened its newest property - the £30 million Lowry Hotel in Manchester. It has also completed a £10 million refurbishment programme at its Amigo Hotel, an £8 million refurbishment of its Astoria Hotel and re-branded the company to The Rocco Forte Collection following the return of the family name to the Forte family in September.

Sir Rocco Forte, Chairman and Chief Executive of The Rocco Forte Collection, said: 'I am delighted that we have won this award. It upholds my belief that providing the training necessary to develop stronger food and wine service skills is an essential ingredient in helping my company to deliver the finest standards of service.'
