Renzo Piano at The Royal Academy of Arts
Rocco Forte Hotels is delighted to partner with the Royal Academy’s landmark exhibition, Renzo Piano: The Art of Making Buildings. Set to be one of London’s key autumn events, this retrospective showcases highlights from the architect’s glittering career.
From the Pompidou Centre in Paris to the Shard in London, Renzo Piano’s mesmerising buildings leave indelible marks on the cities they inhabit. In this major exhibition, Piano’s creations are celebrated through an immersive examination of his pioneering vision.
Sketch books, mock-ups and working models reveal the inner workings of Piano’s creative process. A specially designed ‘island’ installation, uniting 100 of Piano’s projects, is the exhibition’s centrepiece. Visitors and architecture lovers will delight in exploring the elegance of his iconic buildings, along with his lesser known projects and buildings currently under construction.
“Renzo Piano has such a command over the construction process and attention to detail,” explains RA Head of Architecture and exhibition curator Kate Goodwin. “Each component of his buildings flows and comes together beautifully. I hope people are inspired and uplifted by this exhibition and appreciate the poetry and magic of architecture.”
Marrying both Renzo Piano and the Forte family’s Italian heritage, this unique partnership underscores Rocco Forte’s design philosophy, in which all of our hotels are architecturally inspired and as unforgettable as their locations.
Just moments from the Royal Academy of Arts, Brown’s Hotel makes the perfect destination for a pre-exhibition cocktail at the sophisticated Donovan Bar or an indulgent dinner at Heinz Beck’s Beck at Brown’s restaurant.
