MY HAPPY FLORENCE

Turn the city into a classroom with this educational tour for kids!

Discover Palazzo Davanzati, a sixteenth century Florentine home, furnished and decorated to the lifestyle of the times. Children will be mesmerised by the richly painted frescoes on the walls of this Florentine palace, and in the kitchen your guide will explain all sorts of ingenious antique pulleys and devices.

Follow this with a visit to Museo Galileo, a science museum that will appeal to kids over eight years old, especially those with an interest in science and mathematics. Named after the famous Italian scientist, whose revolutionary scientific discoveries included the realisation that the earth revolves around the sun and not vice versa, in this museum you will find instruments that Galileo himself used during his discoveries, such as the lens he used to discover the Galilean moons of Jupiter. This museum overflows with old maps, globes, microscopes, calculating equipment, thermometers, barometers, and Galileo’s famous astrolabe. If your children are interested in the history of science, this is definitely the Florentine museum to visit.

For younger children there are colouring sheets and an obligatory gelato stop to fire up their imaginations.
