FLANDERS TOUR: BRUGES, GHENT, ANTWERP

Discover the beautiful historical cities of Bruges, Ghent and Anvers. Once a town swarming with merchants and traders, Bruges was a major trading centre in Medieval Europe as well as an art centre of the western world. The best way to explore this city, known as Venice of the North, is by taking a boat down its romantic canals, but you can also meander down the cobbled alleyways of the historical city centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The quaint city of Ghent is home to the famous masterpiece the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb by the Van Eyck brothers, and Antwerp is not only the second-biggest port in Europe but has also been a centre of the diamond trade for centuries.

UNEXPECTED ARTWORKS IN THE EU CAPITAL

Art in the Belgian capital is a tale of the unexpected. The city has become so synonymous with the EU and NATO that it is easy to overlook the art on offer in this diverse city. Don’t miss the splendid portrait of John F. Kennedy on a piece of the Berlin Wall which now stands next to the headquarters of the European Commission. Likewise, make sure to seek out the smaller leading contemporary art galleries, such as Office Baroque, which is located in a stunning Art Nouveau former brewery and hosts established and emerging American and European artists.
