Following her recent residency at Hotel de la Ville, we met with acclaimed Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis, to explore the motives behind her art and discover her connection to Rome and its many shades, lights and vibrations.

Sabine’s work is characterized by pure forms that highlight the properties of materials. This working method allows her to intervene in the production process, using research and experimentation on materials to achieve new and surprising visual effects. 

Available for guests from autumn 2022, the exclusive artist-created itinerary unfolds in the historic centre of Rome and combines both iconic locations and lesser known treasures of the Eternal City.

A leisurely two-hour walk through the historic center, accompanied by a qualified guide, to relive the places that inspired Sabine and a few hidden gems: a hidden garden, an old bookstore with an authentic flavor, a frescoed church, and the Pantheon, a key element that inspired Sabine Marcelis' work for Hotel de la Ville.
