MarTa Museum and Grottaglie’s Ceramics Quarter
One of Italy’s leading archaeological museums, the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto showcases a vast display of historic relics that date back to prehistoric times. Whether its Greek terracotta pots or Roman mosaics, guests are invited to delve deeper into their particular area of interest, with an opportunity to admire the originals before having a go at creating their own version.

After crafting a unique mosaic or learning the art of restoring ceramics, enjoy a delicious lunch in the stunning port of Taranto, feasting on fresh seafood before exploring the boutiques of Grottaglie’s famous ceramics district.

Cycling Adventure with Olive Oil Tasting
An opportunity to explore the stunning Puglian landscape on two wheels, and sample some of the region’s home-grown produce, this excursion begins at the hotel where you’ll be met by our expert biking guides. Once you’ve been fitted with a suitable bicycle, you’ll set off from the hotel, heading inland. After a scenic 12km cycle, you’ll take a break at a beautiful 15th-century Masseria for an olive oil tasting with the estate’s passionate owner.

From there, its onwards to the stunning hilltop town of Cisternino, where you’ll soak up the sweeping views of the Itria Valley. After a coffee or gelato, the ride continues along the ridge to La Città Bianca of Ostuni, a stunning hilltop jewel with breathtaking sea views. Along the way, there are plenty of mouth-watering lunch options, including the opportunity to sample some authentic orecchiette pasta. Then it’s back on your bike to return to the hotel for an evening of well-deserved relaxation.

Ostuni and Olive Oil
Olive oil is one of Puglia’s most precious treasures. Discover how the region’s olive oil is made with an exclusive visit to a historic olive oil estate. The mill on this ancient farm has been in use since the bronze age and provides a fascinating insight into the pressing process. Visitors are invited to taste the various pressings, and enjoy a walk around the beautiful historic grounds.

Afterwards, take a scenic journey to the enchanting city of Ostuni, an imposing citadel that overlooks the olive groves all the way to the Adriatic. Explore the tiny winding streets of the oldest area of the city, the Casbah. An expert guide is on hand to offer a scenic walking tour, revealing Ostuni’s hidden treasures.

artisan boutiques. From the Roman amphitheatre to its grand palaces, Lecce is full of eye-catching landmarks and it’s also well-known for its delectable pasticciotto, available to sample along the way. Sit down to a traditional Puglian lunch in one of the city’s finest trattorias.

Afterwards, you’re chauffeured to one of Puglia’s most renowned wineries. Here, an expert oenologist guides you on a beautiful walk around the estate and the vineyards. You’re invited to then enjoy a private wine tasting in the dining room and a chance to learn about each vintage.

Primitivo and Matera
Puglia has a long history of wine production and the region enjoys high acclaim for its viticulture. Meet the most dynamic and passionate wine makers in the region with a trip to an award-winning vineyard in Gioia del Colle. Visitors are invited to enjoy a tour of the winery, including its enormous cellars and the distillery, followed by a wine-tasting accompanied by local snacks.

From there, it’s a short drive to Matera, an ancient city perched high on a beautiful hillside. This famed UNESCO World Heritage Site is just across the border from Puglia, in the Basilicata Region and has been awarded the European Capital of Culture 2019. Our expert guide will lead you on a walking tour of the city’s ancient cave dwellings, which have been carefully restored for use as homes, shops and restaurants. Meet local cheese artisan Giorgio at his farm, where he demonstrates the art of making fresh burrata and encourages you to twist a knot or two of mozzarella for yourself. Observe how the cheese is aged in order to make scamorza and, of course, sample his excellent selection.

Afterwards, head off in search of Puglia’s famous trulli houses. These cone-shaped dwellings are unique to the region and Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to more than 1,000. Sea Caves and Artisan Gelato in Polignano a Mare
Discover the striking cliff-top town of Polignano a Mare, otherwise known as the Amalfi of Puglia. The picturesque town is renowned for its stunning panoramic views, but don’t just admire it on land. Head to the town’s harbour to hop aboard a skiff to explore the sea caves hidden in the cliffs beneath the town, with a guide sharing stories of the many centuries of smugglers who used the caves to stash their contraband.

Back on dry land, wander the town’s charming streets and indulge in a delicious seafood lunch. Leave a little room for dessert—Polignano a Mare is famous for its delicious artisan gelato and our guide knows the best place in town.

Castellana Caves
Located just few miles away from Masseria Torre Maizza, the Castellana Caves is a unique archaeological site that dates back over 90 million years. Venture deep into the caves and marvel at their otherworldly beauty, punctuated by an impressive collection of stalactites and stalagmites. To end the excursion, admire the most beautiful cave of them all, La Grotta Bianca, so called for its gleaming white colour.

A Guided Hike in Alto Salento
Puglia is blessed with a beautiful landscape, rich history and abundant natural produce, and on this hike, guests are invited to experience all three first-hand. The walk begins near the important archaeological site of Santa Maria D’Agnano, where the skeletal remains of “Delia”, dating back 25,000 years, were found. The site offers sweeping views of the olive groves stretching all the way down to the coast. Climb up to the ancient shrine of Sant Oronto, patron saint of Ostuni and Lecce, before descending though wild woodlands and finally reaching a cave mill, used for grinding flour many centuries ago.

After the hike, you’ll be driven to the stunning white city of Ostuni where a guide will accompany you on a fascinating stroll through the historic streets.
