HOTEL DE ROME PRESENTS NEW SUITE EXPERIENCE FOR HIGH-END TRAVELLERS
“Grand Berlin Living” in the redesigned Bebel Suite
Berlin, May 2014 – Hotel de Rome unveils its new top suite, which at 200 square metres is now twice as large as before, offering guests an authentic Berlin experience. Based on the open room design of a classical city apartment from the turn of the century, the Bebel Suite forms a stylish “enfilade” of rooms. With an eclectic mix of furniture, a ceiling height of 3.2 metres and light parquet flooring it portrays the idea of contemporary living and reflects the energy and vibrancy of the capital. One of the highlights is the wide balcony extending across the 25m length of the suite, overlooking historic Bebelplatz.
Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels and sister of Sir Rocco Forte, is responsible for the restyling of the suite. “This is one of the suites I would really like to stay in myself - colourful and joyful, offering a touch of humour and much comfort. To me this suite embodies the spirit of Berlin” says Polizzi.
By renovating its Bebel suite, the 5-star superior hotel is reacting to a new market situation. Berlin is increasingly establishing itself globally as a destination for high-end travellers. Hotel de Rome recognised this trend at an early stage and has managed to capture the transformation and dynamic of the city within its new suite concept.
“We have a high proportion of international guests, more than 50%. Demand for large suites with individual characters has grown constantly over the past few years. Our newly refurbished Bebel suite offers guests exclusive accommodation in a prime location and can be extended to 450 square metres. We are able to fulfil the demands of high-end travellers even better with the new suite concept, our personalized Rocco Forte service and the fact that we are a family-run company,” Thies Sponholz, Director of the Hotel de Rome, is happy to say.
In all, a quarter of a million euros was invested in the elaborate upgrading of the suite.
The new suite concept also created an exclusive living experience, which is perfect for individual travellers who put great value on privacy and discretion. The Bebel suite can be connected with three additional bedrooms and a junior suite, thereby enlarging it to more than 450 square metres. This “suite floor” can be separated according to personal requirements and let exclusively as a 5 bedroom apartment.
The Bebel suite has high-security fixtures such as bulletproof glazing and CCTV surveillance.
The daily rate for the Bebel suite is 7,000 euros per night, which includes the benefits of the Rocco Forte suite programme, allowing guests to enjoy a very special service. This includes a limousine transfer from the airport, full breakfast, luggage unpacking and packing service, ironing service upon arrival, pay TV, high-speed internet connection and the option to check in directly in the suite.
The “new” Bebel suite at Hotel de Rome
From a small perfectly formed suite, the original Bebel Suite has now grown to 200 sq m of truly grand comfort and is consequently the largest suite in Hotel de Rome. It is located on the 3rd floor with unique views of historic Bebelplatz. The open room concept combines working, eating, living and sleeping areas and reflects the dynamic and vitality of Berlin.
Bright, cosy, but at the same time stylish and modern - the suite presents itself in a new form. The black and white monochrome palette of the suite is accentuated with primary colours, citron, crimson, and burnt umber.
The 25-metre-long terrace, which extends the entire length of the suite and can be accessed from all rooms and the bathroom, has also been redesigned by Olga Polizzi and planted with syringa trees. The comfortable wooden benches with cosy seat upholstery and floral pattern cushions in crisp green invite to stay and relax. The terrace provides the perfect backdrop for small, exclusive receptions and summer parties in the middle of the pulsating city.
On entering the suite there is a study area overlooking the terrace with its syringa trees; this space also has a view of the beautiful terrace. The second bathroom with a shower is also accessible from here. On the right hand side, you will find the large living room in contemporary style with its very own extensive library comprising over 1,000 books, a 65" television and a Samsung sound bar with virtual surround system. The two lemon-coloured, sixties-style armchairs are absolute eye-catchers, not to mention the large, light grey bookshelf, which draws attention with its red accents. The colours red and lemon are repeated on the cushions on the two large, anthracite/white dappled sofas. The flamboyant wall lamps, resembling golden leaves, complement the fresh design of the living room.
Adjoining the lounge is the master bedroom. Here Olga Polizzi draws on the colours in the living room. The bedroom naturally has a spacious walk-in wardrobe as well as a generous en-suite marble bathroom with exquisitely delicate mosaic work.
The dining room is on the other side of the suite. The colour yellow dominates this area in the form of wallpaper with floral patterns. In contrast, the plain, dark wooden table in the middle of the room is ideal for homely family meals, small meetings and even glamorous dinners. Next to the dining room, there is a fully equipped kitchen with a separate service entrance from the corridor.
Exclusive living experience covering 450 square metres and offering absolute privacy
Together with three adjacent rooms and a junior suite, which can be connected to the Bebel suite, its own long corridor with parquet flooring and an elegant kitchen, this is a truly luxurious apartment in the hip Mitte district of Berlin. This self-contained “suite floor”, with a total of 450 square metres, can be separated according to requirements and guarantees absolute privacy.

About the Hotel de Rome:
Located in the lovingly restored former Dresdner Bank headquarters, which dates from 1889, Hotel de Rome is a unique combination of listed architecture and contemporary design, coupled with extraordinary comfort and the personal Rocco Forte service. The hotel opened in October 2006 and is one of the “The Leading Hotels of the World”. As one of the few luxury hotels in an original, historic building, Hotel de Rome reflects Berlin as a travel destination in a very special way. The hotel’s roof terrace offers a fantastic view over the city’s rooftops and affords the perfect lounge feeling, making it THE hideaway in Berlin’s Mitte district. With only 145 rooms and suites plus its unique location at the historic Bebelplatz, the hotel is a real architectural jewel in the heart of Berlin. Together with the designer Tommaso Ziffer, Olga Polizzi created a magnificent and unique interior for the historic building. The architectural features were lovingly restored and in many cases reinterpreted. This is also the case with the historical suites, which are located in the former director of the bank’s offices. Here you can still find original built-in wardrobes, doors, wood panelling and the occasional splendid wooden coffered ceiling. In some of the suites, which also witnessed the Second World War, you may still find shrapnel in the walls and wood panelling.
