Press Release

Hotel de Russie, a Rocco Forte hotel, has partnered withVery Important Kids (VIK) to design a series of extraordinary adventures for families to immerse themselves in the culture and history of Rome. Whether visiting Rome for half-term, Easter break or for a summer holiday, experience the sights and sounds that have been captivating travelers for two thousand years. From gladiator training and treasure hunts, to cultural adventures and monument photography courses, families will brush up on culture together in the most entertaining way.

The Eternal city is the crib of culture and a treasure trove of adventures for children of all ages. Whether they are studying history, art, archeology or even just learning about the world in general, Rome is a parent’s greatest opportunity to give their children the most wonderful and enriching adventure of their lives.

The most creative of children will be invited to become a broadcaster for the day and report on the city’s greatest icons, such as the Colosseum, Egyptian Obelisks and the Roman Forum. Following real scripts and briefs, the budding cameramen and photographers will learn the basics of visual arts whilst bringing Ancient Rome to life for the Rocco Forte Children’s channel. Led by a professional photographer, children will learn how to use the best and latest camera to enhance their shots of Rome, and to complete the experience, develop their images in the photographer’s dark room. The day spent in Rome will remain forever engraved in the photographs the children will take home in a special album of memories.

Dreams of heroic battles and splendid heroes may come true for some children as they enrol in theultimate Gladiator school. After a visit to the Colosseum, young warriors will be fitted with typical armour and tunics of a gladiator and will learn about swordsmanship, engage in safe one-on-one battles with their siblings, and learn about Roman history from a real-life gladiator.

Young art historians or budding detectives will have a lot of fun chasing Gianlorenzo, Hotel de Russie’s very own real frog whilst exploring Rome’s most famous fountains and searching for him amongst the sculptures along the way. Children will be amazed by the extraordinary tales and characters hidden behind dancing fountains and mesmerizing sculptures.  The adventure concludes victoriously as the little treasure hunters finally find Gianlorenzo croaking in the hotel’s Secret Garden.

Amongst the most contemporary adventures the ancient city has on offer is an exciting 5D ride through history in Rome’s Time elevator. The magical full sensory show will engage and amuse the whole family using the ultimate technology to bring history to life complete with sounds, smells and atmospheric drama.

The unforgettable family Roman holiday is part of the Families R Forte program, offered by Rocco Forte Hotels at the Hotel de Russie in Rome.
