Press Release

THE HOTEL DE RUSSIE

The Hotel de Russie owes its name to the many members of the Russian Imperial House and the Russian Romantic painters who selected the hotel as their location of choice for their stay in the Eternal City.

Planned by Giuseppe Valadier in 1814, The Hotel de Russie is part of Rocco Forte Hotels since 2000 and has become one of the best hotels in town.

The interior refurbishment of this ancient building was conducted by the Architect Tommaso Ziffer, with the aid of Olga Polizzi Director of Design for Rocco Forte Hotels and Sir Rocco Forte’s sister. Ziffer came up with an interior design based on an eclectic blending of styles that has given rise to a design that highlights renewed modernity  and creates a ‘melting pot’ of styles typical of the most advanced societies in the world.

Neutral shades have been chosen for the interiors of the hotel, in the salons and bedrooms alike, that are all very delicate to the eye ranging from greenish-blue to sand-ivory with sophisticated shades of amethyst.  There is a noticeable Asian influence within the furniture, seen in the precious orange and black lacquer. The bedrooms and suites are equipped with all modern comforts and enjoy enchanting views over Piazza del Popolo as well as the famous Rome rooftops.

Hotel de Russie is a fascinating mix of old and new, with modern design that respects the classical architecture of the building. French poet Jean Cocteau described our hotel as “paradise on earth” in 1917. Today, it’s the finest of all the 5-star hotels in Rome and one of the city’s greatest treasures. Personal service is delivered with gracious ease and guests will instantly relish the sensation of having arrived in an exclusive location with a special atmosphere and a rich history and heritage, where elegance is never opulent and creates a sense of harmony and wellbeing.

The Hotel de Russie, located between two of Rome's most beautiful and famous Piazzas, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna, offering a haven of tranquility and greenery in the heart of the city. The hotel is just a short walk away from the most elegant  shopping streets of the city.

In August 2010 ‘Le Jardin de Russie Restaurant’ was restyled and its delicate and fresh new interior décor evokes the natural colors of the marvelous garden that surrounds it. During the summer months ‘Le Jardin de Russie Restaurant’  offers open air tables in the enchantment of the Secret Garden with its age-old palm and yew trees, blossoming orange groves and rose bushes. At night soft lighting creates a unique atmosphere.

A visit to the Stravinskij Bar is a must. Situated on the Piazzetta Valadier, the Bar is a wonderful meeting-place in the centre of Rome. A visit to the  exclusive Wellness Zone is in order as it offers a wide range of treatments that extend the pleasure of your stay in this magnificent hotel.
