SOPHIAS TERRACE OPENS FOR SUMMER WITH CULINARY EVENTS AT THE CHARLES HOTEL
Munich, May 2018. As the weather gets warmer the anticipation for summer is building in Munich and Sophia’s Restaurant & Bar located in The Charles Hotel, a Rocco Forte Hotel, has opened its terrace to its guests now. Prepared by award-winning Executive Chef Michael Hüsken, guests can enjoy a collection of summer inspired culinary events such as an Iced Afternoon Tea, BBQ Chef’s Table and Grill & Chill Evenings.
Providing the perfect setting to enjoy a summer’s afternoon with a view of the Old Botanical Garden, revive and refresh with Munich’s first ever Iced Afternoon Tea on Sophia’s Terrace. Guests can choose from a variety of iced teas such as mint, mango, lemon, elderflower, Earl Grey or Moroccan tea made from cardamom, lemon and mandarin. The ideal treat for beating the heat, a selection of homemade ice pops will be served along with delicious tea sandwiches that include raw marinated tuna, avocado and lemon or a refreshing watermelon salad with cucumber, feta and mint.
The popular Grill & Chill Evenings return to Sophia’s terrace this summer every Wednesday and Thursday night. With chilled beats playing, guests can order the finest food cooked on a lava stone grill or in the Big Green Egg, a ceramic grill loved by food aficionados. From grilled merguez sausage, to sea bass on pandan leaves or dry-aged entrecote from Lower Bavarian Fleckvieh cattle, Chef Michael Hüsken has created the perfect summer menu.
Prepared in front of guests under the direction of Chef Michael Hüsken, barbecue fans will enjoy the BBQ Chef’s Table offering a summer inspired menu and tips for the perfect BBQ. The five course menu includes champagne and promises an enjoyable summer evening on Sophia’s terrace.

Exclusive BBQ Chef’s Table –Prepared in front of guests by Executive Chef Michael Hüsken or Sous Chef Gideon Huth, learn valuable grilling tips for your next BBQ whilst enjoying the five course menu. Includes drinks and a champagne reception.

BBQ Event with Otto Gourmet – From 6:30pm. Wolfgang Otto alongside Michael Husken will personally showcase the best steaks in the world and prepare a culinary experience for guests. The BBQ event will include a variety of drinks.

Sunday 8th July:
Jazz Brunch from 11:30am until 3pm. Butch Kellem and his jazz trio will play while guests enjoy an extensive breakfast buffet, appetizers and warm dishes. Sip on champagne, red and white wine, coffee, tea & freshly pressed juices. Plus a kids’ club for children will be available.

Friday 27th July:
Franconian Gourmet Evening with Benedikt Faust and Michael Hüsken from 7:30pm. Award-winning Chef Benedikt Faust from the traditional Hotel Rebstock in Würzburg, will spoil guests with avant-garde gourmet cuisine made from seasonal Franconian ingredients. He has known both of Sophia’s leading chefs for 15 years now and will celebrate Franconian cuisine with them at Sophia’s. The menu is accompanied by wines from the best Franconian winemakers.

Gin Tasting Event from 5pm Enjoy the most extravagant Gin & Tonic creations at Sophia’s Bar and experience a refreshingly different tasting event. The rendezvous between essences of juniper and cinchona bark is showcased by bar manager Roman Kern and his team who have devoted themselves to mixing this fantastic blend. Sip on five different ice cold Gin & Tonic concoctions and learn about how gin is produced and why tonic water is the perfect mixer. Drinks are accompanied by small delicacies and other culinary highlights from Sophia’s kitchen.

Friday 13th July
Afterwork by Gin Mare from 6pm – Together with Gin Mare, the Sophia’s bar team is conjuring up delicious drinks using Mediterranean spirits. Cool sounds and a relaxing atmosphere both inside and out quickly dispel any mundane thoughts of work. No entrance fee.
Thursday 19th July
Sparkling Munich Event from 6pm -Sophia’s invites you to a party in the open air. If the weather doesn’t play along, live music in the bar guarantees the perfect atmosphere. Enjoy sparkling cocktails and delicious finger food at the Sparkling Night.
