This summer, Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotels spa and golf destination in Sicily, will host three exceptional concerts with internationally renowned artists from Italy and UK: the Italian Pianist Roberto Cacciapaglia, the new British soul star Myles Sanko and the fantastic Nick the Nightfly Jazz Quintet. The concerts will take place in the charming amphitheatre under the stars in the middle of the Resort’s olive groves.
All resort guests will have free access to the concert, with the additional option of booking a “private area” in the front row. Guests will receive a bottle of Italian sparkling wine and Sicilian dried fruit during the concert as well as the chance to meet and chat with the artist after the performance. (Private area: € 200 up to 4 people – After concert reception with the artist: € 28)
During the concert Verdùland Kids Club will be open to give all parents that love good music the chance to enjoy the concert while their kids will have fun with the resort’s Kids Team.
Tuesday, 16th August: Contemporary piano with Roberto Cacciapaglia
The Verdura Music Summer Festival will commence with Italian pianist Roberto Cacciapaglia, who will enchant the resort’s guests with his beautiful melodies. Cacciapaglia is a pianist and composer internationally renowned for his innovative approach to piano music.
Founder of the Educational Music Academy, he has collaborated with important Italian music stars such as Franco Battiato and Gianna Nannini. Among his masterpieces is “Tree of life”, the music composed for the famous night performance at EXPO 2015 – Tree of Life, which was Number One on the iTunes classic chart for many months. He has released three CDs in collaboration with the Royal Philarmonic: “Quarto Tempo” (Universal Music – 2007); “Canone degli Spazi” (Universal Music – 2009); “Ten Directions” (Sony Music – 2010). His music has been played in the most prestigious theaters in Italy and across the globe.
Wednesday, 17th August: Soul, Funk and Jazz with Myles Sanko
The second concert is with the UK based soul singer Myles Sanko -"The Lovechild of Soul Music" - a seasoned performer whose music has seen him grace stages across the world, including London’s own iconic Ronnie Scott’s and the Jazz Café. Making some of the finest new soul music around and landing lots of media attention and radio play, Myles Sanko is the rising star to watch and his new album ‘Forever Dreaming’ has won critical acclaim.
Although there are enticing elements and characteristics of the speedy pace and hard beat of classic northern soul amidst his music, it's a technique intended as a respectful tip of the hat to those who continue to serve as his inspiration, including Bill Withers, James Brown, Al Green and Otis Redding. Myles Sanko's interpretation of soul music is wholly distinctive and unique - he offers a fresh-faced alternative worthy of your attention.
Thursday, 18th August: Jazz with Nick the Nightfly Quintet
The final concert will be with the most famous Jazz voice of Italy: Nick the Nightfly. After his incredible DJ Set performances last July, Nick returns to Verdura with his great Quintet for a memorable concert of Nu-soul and pop, contemporary Jazz and new age music.
A radio presenter for 20 years at famous Monte Carlo Nights, the first radio show to present new musical trends in Italy, and Director of the Blue Note in Milan, Nick is a successful singer and musician with a rich musical background including several collaborations with the most prolific Italian jazz artists. During his career at Monte Carlo Nights he interviewed and sang together with renowned music stars such as Quincy Jones, Pat Metheny, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Franco Battiato, Mark Knopfler and many others.
