Why wellness is the new watchword in travel
Throughout history, different cultures have had different interests in ‘wellness’. To some, it was the antithesis of illness and the warding off of disease. To others, it was the tenet that would help define their approach to life, from Hippocrates and the Ancient Greeks to the 5,000-year old tradition of Ayurveda.

Why Putting Children First Makes the Perfect Family Holiday
Oliver James, one of Britain’s leading experts on child psychology, has really understood the effect that travel has on children, and why it is so important to their development. Adults have long regarded holidays as not only a way to relax and get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life, but as a way to learn, build bonds and create life-long memories. Children are no different in this respect, but what stimulates them is distinctive from their parents.

HOTEL DE LA VILLE’S 21ST CENTURY GRAND TOUR
Located at the top of Rome’s iconic Spanish Steps, our newest property, Hotel de la Ville, pays homage to the European Grand Tour. During the 18th and 19th centuries, young gentlemen were sent on a tour of Europe, intended to enlighten and educate. Rome was an essential stop on every tour, as the city’s long history reaching from the ancient to the Renaissance yielded a wealth of culture.

The Stravinskij Bar’s Sparkling Gold Negroni
There is nothing more Italian than the Negroni, and this year it is celebrating its centenary. Said to have been invented in Florence in 1919 at the request of Count Camillo Negroni, who—back from the hard-drinking West Coast of America—demanded that the soda water in his Americano cocktail be upgraded to gin. Since then, the Negroni has become one of the best known and loved Italian cocktails.

Experience the Internazionali BNL d’Italia
One of the most anticipated spring sporting events in Italy, the Italian Open, or Internazionali BNL d’Italia, takes place each May in Rome. The Open is one of the most important clay tennis tournaments on the tour, second to the French Open. First played at the Foro Italico in 1935, a stadium inspired by the Roman forums of old, the tournament is still played at the same location on the banks of the Tiber.
