A Scottish suite fit for a sovereign: Introducing the Balmoral’s Glamis Suite
Food & Drink, Wellness, Culture
The oft-used expression ‘fit for royalty’ couldn’t be more perfect in describing the Balmoral’s new Glamis Suite. Be amongst the first to call this spacious set of rooms home and experience the reimagined ambiance of Scotland’s most beautiful castle though the eyes of Rocco Forte Hotels Director of Design, Olga Polizzi.
The childhood home of The Queen Mother and the birthplace of Princess Margaret, Glamis Castle’s living quarters feature ornate ceilings, showpiece chandeliers, sumptuous full-length drapes and canopied beds. At the Balmoral, these elements have inspired the Glamis Suite’s show-stopping new look, translated into a stylish urban setting and given a lighter, more contemporary twist.
Blessed with beautiful period features, the suite is perfectly suited to regal splendour. Sink into the sumptuous green velvet of a magnificent Michael Reeves Addison sofa in the salon and browse the exquisite literary tomes on the bookcase. Enjoy a nightcap by the fire in the winter, and in the summer savour Afternoon Tea in the elegant sitting room overlooking Princes Street. When you’re in the mood for entertaining, a Scottish baronial table and chairs from the Rocco Forte antique collection provides a superlative setting, surrounded by majestic artworks and softly lit by an antique chandelier. At the end of a busy day, slip into the freestanding bathtub in the Arabascato marble bathroom, before drifting off to sleep in your king-sized bed, decorated with dramatic full-height, half-tester drapes.
Select the Glamis Suite for our Royal Edinburgh Suite Experience package and the royal treatment will continue outside the suite, with guided walking tours of Edinburgh landmarks including the Royal Yacht Britannia and a splendid Afternoon Tea masterclass celebrating this time-honoured tradition.
