Masseria Torre Maizza is thrilled to have created its own bespoke gin, exclusively available at the hotel. Gin Allu Tramond is named after that special moment at sunset, the best time according to the local dialect, to enjoy a gin cocktail.
This premium, fragrant gin is produced in a time-honoured process to perfectly capture the natural spirit of the region. Distilled over twelve hours drop-by-drop at a low temperature in a copper pot still, the gin is filled with a natural bounty of local ingredients including fresh botanicals handpicked at Masseria Torre Maizza.
The drink’s base of London Dry Gin is vapour infused and blended with Italian organic wheat alcohol, mountain spring water, juniper, cardamom, angelica root and chamomile among other far-flung ingredients such as Sarawak pepper, to add a subtle kick, along with notes of lemon, rosemary and wild fennel grown at the hotel.
Gin Allu Tramond is the vision of Giuliano Piscina, the Hotel’s Food & Beverage Manager, who, in his own words. “Began this adventure a year ago, I sent the botanicals to a family-run distillery, Cillario & Marazzi, and, along with my barman, Tiziano, we tasted several samples to create the most Mediterranean of gins, one that was born to be served at Masseria Torre Maizza”.
