In the Footsteps
of Artemisia

Step into a world where the bold spirit of a Baroque trailblazer meets the raw power of contemporary art. This exclusive cultural itinerary, designed by our guide Sara Papini, celebrates two extraordinary women—Artemisia Gentileschi and Tracey Emin—who, across centuries, defied conventions, claimed space in a male-dominated art world, and transformed personal pain into powerful visual language.

This experience is not just a tour—it is a narrative. A bespoke storytelling encounter designed for the culturally curious and the aesthetically inclined, where Baroque and contemporary voices intertwine, and Florence is seen through the lens of feminine power, beauty, and transformation.

The Tour

First stop of the tour

Our immersive tour begins at Casa Buonarroti, a hidden Florentine treasure that was once the home of Michelangelo’s family. Within this intimate setting, encounter Artemisia’s Allegory of Inclination, a rare early masterpiece painted for Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger. In the quiet beauty of this historic home, delve into Artemisia’s life—her rise against adversity, her intellectual and artistic flourishing in Florence, and her revolutionary presence as the first woman admitted to the Accademia del Disegno.

Second stop of the tour

The journey continues through the majestic Palatine Gallery in Palazzo Pitti, where Artemisia’s mature works unfold amid the splendor of Medici opulence. Surrounded by gilded ceilings and velvet-lined walls, her canvases emerge as timeless testimonies of female resilience, narrative power, and artistic innovation.

Third stop of the tour

To bridge the past with the present, the tour culminates with a curated experience at Hotel Savoy’s vibrant Bar Artemisia. This refined space pays homage to Artemisia through sophisticated design, art-inspired cocktails, and an atmosphere that speaks to the strength and elegance of her legacy.

As a symbolic crescendo, view Tracey Emin’s striking neon artwork, My Forgotten Heart, displayed on the façade of the hotel. Part of the artist’s major exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi, this installation exists outside traditional museum walls—mirroring Artemisia’s own journey as an outsider turned icon. Emin’s piece resonates with the same emotional intensity that defines Artemisia’s oeuvre, forming a poetic dialogue between two women across time.
