Each year at the end of June, the Ommegang parade takes place. Honouring the coming of the emperor, Charles Quint to the capital in 1549, this historic show takes place at the Grand' Place, just a few steps away from the Hotel Amigo.

Amateurs of traditional events, historical reconstitution, or just curious? This event is for you. Reenacting Belgian folklore with 1,400 actors, folk and historic groups, horses, puppet theatre, giant flags, the parade, and the show of the Ommegang will make your eyes shine bright with amazement.

Flower Carpet

Since 1971, the Grand’ Place of Brussels has bloomed with a wonderful Flower Carpet. Thousands of flowers and more than 100 gardeners are required to create this masterpiece of 70m height and 24 m width.

Every two years, on the 15th of August weekend, the Flower Carpet gives you an occasion to stroll on the Grand Place, a gothic architectural treasure. Enjoy the enchanting smell of fresh flowers and drown your eyes in the sight of this incredible carpet before admiring this spectacle from the prestigious City Hall’s balcony.

After seeing it by day, come back at night to discover its wonderful lights and sound spectacle.
