Castle Gun Salute | Edinburgh Castle

Across the UK, on special occasions, six 13-pounder guns, pulled to position by teams of horses, fire 21 rounds of booming blanks in a regal tradition dating back to the 15th Century. One such Gun Salute will take place to celebrate HM King Charles’ 75th birthday in the beautiful grounds of Edinburgh Castle, the impressive UNESCO Heritage Site that sits atop Castle Rock overlooking the Scottish capital.

Scottish Ballet, Cinders! | Festival Theatre

Christmas Markets | Princes St Gardens

Edinburgh is truly magical this during the festive period. With one of the most spectacular Christmas Markets located just two minutes from The Balmoral in Princes Street Gardens and another located on and near George Street.


Filled with traditional handmade gifts, warming mulled wine, lit up big
wheel, popular ice skating rink, fairground rides and delicious street food stalls throughout, it really does make the perfect festive afternoon.
