Here Irene shares how she celebrates Christmas and her tips for nourishing dry and stressed skin during these cold winter days.
What does your perfect Christmas day look like, where you can relax mentally and physically?
Christmas is all about family coming together; so my perfect Christmas day is spent with the family. We usually spend it in Surrey at my parents' house, and overeat with delicious food, have a massive Christmas tree decorated by my mother, beautifully-wrapped gifts, and we're just together. It's a day spent away from my computer, enjoying the love of the people around me, which ultimately ensures I can relax mentally and physically.
Munich is especially cold in winter, what products do you recommend for dry and stressed skin during this cold season?
During the winter, normally healthy feeling skin can start to feel dehydrated. It’s generally much more dehydrated than the summer months, so you need to change up your routine a little. I’m a firm believer in layering up.
You want to cleanse your skin with a cream-based, non-stripping or drying cleanser, such as my Almond Cleansing Milk.
You also want a moisture-attracting serum; serums with different molecular-weights of Hyaluronic Acid are great, such as my Triple Level Hyaluronic Serum and my Hibiscus Serum. Sometimes I use the Triple Level Hyaluronic Serum first and then follow with the Hibiscus Serum. The Triple Level Hyaluronic Serum is clinically proven to hydrate the skin over 12 hours, after just one application. The unique triple weight blend is proven to immediately plump the skin and helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. With breakthrough ingredient Myoxinol™, the Hibiscus serum is clinically proven to deliver visible wrinkle reduction when used in a regime with the Prickly Pear Face Cream and the Hibiscus Night Cream.
Don’t forget to then add eye cream; the skin here is thinner and thus more susceptible to colder climates, so it needs to be kept hydrated and protected. I use our brand new Olive Eye Cream, which is clinically proven to significantly increase skin hydration, driven by a B Vitamin Complex, Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Leaf Juice.
Finish with a cream or an oil, which are designed to create a barrier on the skin and prevent moisture loss. Ceramides are a critical element of the natural moisture barrier, and we produce fewer and fewer as we get older. As the cold sets in, it’s always a good idea to include Ceramides in your skincare routine. We have them in our Hibiscus Night Cream (and our Hibiscus Serum). Finish with an SPF! I use my SPF50, which is paraben, colorant and silicone-free, and full of omega-rich oils which are perfect for the winter months.

Coastal modernism, Sicilian Style: New Suites at Verdura Resort
Verdura Resort has always drawn its character from its surroundings – the wide sweep of Sicily's south-western coastline, the olive groves and macchia mediterranea stretching back from the shore, the quality of a landscape that shifts hour by hour with the sun. When Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, working closely with Olga Polizzi, began designing the resort's new collection of sea-facing suites and rooms, that relationship between interior and place was where they started.
The Language of Flowers: Inside our Suites
Every suite is, in some sense, a portrait of where it stands, grounded in the history, the stories, the particular light of its city. At Hotel de Russie in Rome, the Valadier Suite takes its name and its lush colour palette from the architect who designed the hotel's own Secret Garden; at Hotel Amigo in Brussels, the Tintin Suite pays tribute to Belgium's most beloved cultural hero. The floristry follows the same instinct.
