Scala dei Turchi
With its white marble cliffs that form a natural staircase, the spectacular Scala dei Turchi is an essential landmark to see when travelling by boat. It is said that Saracen pirates once docked their ships in these calm, clean waters and climbed the natural "steps" to reach the top of the cliff and raid the local villages. During your boat trip you’ll also have the opportunity to admire the amazing Torre Salsa, a WWF nature reserve that extends along the coastline, where the chalk cliffs alternate with long sandy beaches. The reserve takes its name from a tower that stands on the top of one of the chalk cliffs and was originally built as a defence.
