Of course, when it comes to family dinners, I would always recommend Verdura Resort, we have a great children’s menu – they love our pizza and pasta with tomato sauce - simple pleasures but a favourite with kids. Otherwise, we would point guests towards Planeta. This award-winning, family-run winery is perfect for families as there’s lots of room for kids while parents enjoy a glass of wine... or two!
For little explorers
Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples and Selinunte are fascinating archaeological sites on the island’s south coast. Both are less than an hour’s journey from the resort, and we can organise a fun, educational tour led by an archaeologist - it’s a fantastic lesson in ancient history. For families with older kids, we can plan an helicopter ride to some of Sicily’s most picturesque sights or a boat trip along the coast.
At Verdura Resort, we truly are a family destination. Our Verdùland Kids Club is designed for little ones up to the age of 12, where they engage in cooking lessons, arts and crafts, and sports. We also have a series of academies, run by top sporting stars, and during the summer months, we host our popular Juventus Academy for young football fans. Every day is different here. We always love to organise something special. For example, a few years ago, a guest requested an Indiana Jones-themed day for their children. I arranged a special trekking experience, where at the end they were greeted by a jeep, like the one from the movies. Any request is welcome – our motto is ‘happy family, happy life’!

It’s so important to talk to every family and get to know them so we can tailor their stay. For example, if they are looking for a truly authentic experience, we would propose a day spent with our U Canuscituri, a local insider who will take our guests to explore villages and local artisans that remain off the typical tourist path. Some of our guests have family ties to Sicily, and we are proud to offer an ‘ancestry concierge’ service, exploring their heritage. We once had an American family staying with us, whose distant relatives had lived on the island before emigrating. We uncovered a black-and-white photograph of the street they had lived on and where they were born. The family were incredibly grateful, and I remain in contact with them which is fantastic. For me, this is perhaps my favourite part of the role, being able to have a personal impact on our guests, to ensure every moment of their stay is memorable.
