On February 12th at the London Wasps Rugby Club, George Ellis made his amateur boxing debut as a Light Middleweight in what turned out to be a highly successful and exciting charitable fundraiser.

George started off his fight confidently, knocking his opponent to the floor in the first round to the high-pitched delight of the RFH employees in the crowd, and he continued to execute a careful gameplan to retain control over the opening sequences.

In the second round a stark stylistic contrast began to emerge between the two combatants, as George's nimble feet and quick combination work kept him one step ahead of his opponent's high-octane aggression and persistent explosive haymakers. The opposition was extremely resolute however, and fought their way back into contention with a strong showing in the third round, which ultimately brought the judge's scoring level at a 28-28 draw.

Both contestants were still standing by the end, and exchanged an embrace of mutual respect and acknowledgement for an evenly matched and entertaining encounter.

George was happily back in the office on Monday, relatively unscathed, and is grateful for all the support from the Jermyn St team (and to Brown's Hotel for donating a Champagne Afternoon Tea for the raffle). Overall the event raised over £5k for charity.
