OLGA POLIZZI AND LAUDOMIA PUCCI ON THE NEW HOTEL SAVOY

The iconic Hotel Savoy. The esteemed house of Pucci. Two Florentine legends unite to reimagine a masterpiece. In an extraordinary creative partnership, Laudomia Pucci teamed up with Rocco Forte Hotels’ Director of Design, Olga Polizzi to bring the Tuscan hotel’s grand lobby to life. Marrying its elegant historical features with lively pops of Pucci print and colour, the elegant lobby creates quite the impression when guests step through the door. Here, Olga Polizzi and Laudomia Pucci share the secrets of their incredible creative alliance.

How did your partnership begin?

Olga Polizzi: “The iconic Pucci image instantly attuned us, and the partnership started thanks to an immediate synergy between myself and Laudomia.”

What can guests expect from the Pucci collaboration?

OP: “In the lobby, Pucci enlivened the space with accents of pink, blue and black, and we have a beautiful patterned carpet in one of Emilio Pucci’s original designs. Pucci also designed a bespoke scarf for us, which features the Piazza and hotel. We had the image printed directly on glass, and these form the table tops for Irene bistro’s terrace.”

Where did you source the hotel’s furniture and décor?

OP: “Much of it is made here, like the front desk and lobby statues. It would be mad not to use the artisans on our doorstep. All of our hotels are meant to feel like the city they’re in, and to achieve that we buy local art and get things made locally. I also visit markets to source unique items.”

Laudomia, what do you admire about Olga’s style?

Laudomia Pucci: “I love that Olga has a personal touch that makes everything feel welcoming and special. Especially considering the artisanal touches she harmonises with her good taste — a very rare combination.”

What was your design vision?

LP: “It was important for me to blend the Pucci spirit with the overall feel of the hotel. I wanted to make it a unified and comfortable space where the Pucci essence could echo organically.”

How was the process of working together?

LP: “It was an extremely easy process, as Olga was very encouraging every step of the way. I enjoyed discovering the new and innovative aspects in our proposals throughout the process. It was very refreshing!”

Olga, how successful has the renovation been for you?

OP: “It has been a very successful restyling and we’ve redone the hotel from top-to-toe. We’ve also reduced the number of rooms from 102 to 80 to create larger and more luxurious suites and rooms for our guests. They have lots of personality and truly say something about Florence.”

Coastal modernism, Sicilian Style: New Suites at Verdura Resort

Verdura Resort has always drawn its character from its surroundings – the wide sweep of Sicily's south-western coastline, the olive groves and macchia mediterranea stretching back from the shore, the quality of a landscape that shifts hour by hour with the sun. When Paolo Moschino and Philip Vergeylen, working closely with Olga Polizzi, began designing the resort's new collection of sea-facing suites and rooms, that relationship between interior and place was where they started.

Exploring the Baroque Splendour of Southern Italy

To understand Baroque, you have to understand its ambition. To fully appreciate it, you have to go to southern Italy. Emerging from the Counter-Reformation in early 17th-century Italy, the movement harnessed drama, ornamentation and light in service of devotion – art designed to engage the senses as much as the intellect.

The Language of Flowers: Inside our Suites

Every suite is, in some sense, a portrait of where it stands, grounded in the history, the stories, the particular light of its city. At Hotel de Russie in Rome, the Valadier Suite takes its name and its lush colour palette from the architect who designed the hotel's own Secret Garden; at Hotel Amigo in Brussels, the Tintin Suite pays tribute to Belgium's most beloved cultural hero. The floristry follows the same instinct.
