WHERE TO BE ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

Rocco Forte Hotels

The last night of the year is often the most anticipated; a perfect opportunity for convivial cheer and memorable spectacle. From sumptuous tasting menus to rooftop cocktails to fabulous fireworks, we’ve curated several of the special events taking place throughout our European hotels for those seeking a celebration to remember.

Rome

Following an incredible reception to its grand opening earlier this year, our newest Roman hotel is celebrating its first ever New Year. Share this momentous experience with guests and locals alike and become part of Hotel de la Ville’s history. Begin with sensational Italian menus at Mosaico and Da Sistina, accompanied by superlative wines and Champagnes, before gathering for a New Year’s Eve toast on rooftop terrace bar Cielo. Here, high above the streets of Rome, clink glasses amongst flickering lamps as the capital’s spectacular annual fireworks shoot high into the sky and disperse in blazing colour. The night doesn’t finish with the display; downstairs, a professional DJ set is bound to entice you into the first dance of 2020.

Edinburgh

The capital’s most sought-after soirée, The Balmoral’s Hogmanay Gala Ball is a glamorous, lively celebration of all things Scottish. Put on your finest for this red-carpet occasion, which begins with a rousing pipe and drum performance, bubbling Champagne and delectable canapés. Next, take your seats in the Sir Walter Scott Suite and savour a magnificent four-course dinner by Executive Chef Gary Robinson, coupled with exquisite wines, before a rousing ceilidh band takes the stage. Dance the evening away until the big countdown, when you’ll welcome in the Bells of 2020 with a chorus of Auld Lang Syne as fireworks soar above Edinburgh Castle.

Berlin

There are two ways to celebrate at Hotel de Rome; at La Banca, our chic destination restaurant, or in our historic ballroom, with its ornate chandeliers and dramatic glass ceiling. In the ballroom, enjoy a three-course gala dinner with wine and live guitar music, or a five-course meal and paired wines at La Banca. Once sated with exquisite Italian fare by Chef Fulvio Pierangelini, guests of both galas will head for our exclusive rooftop terrace, where, amid flickering torches, they’ll enjoy midnight Champagne and privileged views of Berlin’s fireworks. La Banca guests may then head down to the Opera Court, where an open bar, fiery live cooking stations and a blend of DJ set and live band will ensure they start 2020 as they mean to continue.
