Bespoke Tartan Design Experience

Capture your own unique story through a bespoke tartan design experience at Araminta Campbell. The process combines a personal approach, creative vision and the finest craftsmanship to help you create your very own personalised tartan. 

The tartan you produce with Araminta Campbell can be inspired by your family history, beautiful landscape or your favourite colour. The personalised tartan design is a wonderful way to create a new legacy which can be passed on to generations to come. 

The first step is a private consultation with Araminta via video call (which can be done from the comfort of your own home). When you come to stay at The Balmoral you will have the opportunity to visit the atelier for a morning or an afternoon session to further develop your design, located in Lord Hopetoun’s Estate near Hopetoun House.

Araminta will create a series of designs to send electronically for initial feedback on styles and colours. 

Following this, Araminta then works on producing more developed designs which are then printed as CADs and supplied along with yarn strands so you are able to see the real weave colours. This will also give you an opportunity to view printed designs and get a better understanding of colour representation and scale. 

For guests at The Balmoral who have come to Scotland to discover more about their family history, this experience is a remarkable way to celebrate your heritage with a piece of family tartan. The bespoke tartan designs are made to stand the test of time with quality and versatility at the heart of Araminta Campbell’s ethos. 

Due to the delicate and timely process required to create your perfect tartan we envision the experience taking several months. Unfortunately last minute requests cannot be accepted for this particular experience and pre booking is required.
