"Our conversations with Rocco Forte Hotels really gave us the confidence to build this product''
The best partnerships are built on trust, transparency and delivering on commitments. While those qualities are often associated with the guest experience, they matter just as much behind the scenes.
Yet one area has remained a source of frustration across the industry. Delayed commission payments, limited visibility and time-consuming reconciliation have become familiar challenges for travel advisors and agencies, often requiring unnecessary follow-up long after a guest has returned home.
Recognising the opportunity to improve that experience, Rocco Forte Hotels began working with Irving Betesh, CEO and Co-Founder of SION, three years ago as he developed a revolutionary commission platform designed specifically for the travel industry.
From the outset, the ambition was clear: to create a more seamless experience for our valued travel partners while strengthening relationships across the industry. By collaborating early in SION's development, we have played an important role in bringing that vision to life.
A shared ambition
As a former travel advisor, Betesh understood the challenges surrounding commission payments first-hand. Limited visibility, lengthy payment times and manual reconciliation had become accepted across the industry, creating unnecessary administration for agencies and suppliers alike.
"This wasn't just a payment issue, it was a relationship issue," he says. "Our conversations with Rocco Forte Hotels really gave us the confidence to build this product. They validated the need, showed how much they cared about their partners and had the patience to help us create it."
Today, SION gives travel advisors greater visibility throughout the commission journey, helping to reduce administration and simplify reconciliation. Payments are typically received within 24 to 48 hours of processing – often much sooner – with detailed remittance information and no receiving fees, giving agencies greater confidence and control throughout the process.
''Advisors pay attention to things like this and one less hotel they have to chase for their commissions goes a long way''
A better way of working
The benefits are already being felt across the industry: "Rocco Forte Hotels' commitment to the SION platform echoes the professionalism we know and love from the brand," says Rene Alldredge, Chief Operating Officer at Brownell Travel. "By being early adopters from the brand level, they've set the bar for their competitors. Advisors pay attention to things like this and one less hotel they have to chase for their commissions goes a long way."
Silvio Rebmann, CEO and Founder of CUBE Travel, shares a similar perspective: "Rocco Forte Hotels' early adoption of SION's commission platform sends a very positive signal to us as a travel partner. It shows a clear commitment to improving transparency and professionalism in working with the travel trade. For us, this builds trust and confidence in the partnership. Ultimately, it positions them as a forward-thinking and preferred partner, aligned with our own expectations in terms of efficiency and collaboration."
If you haven't already registered with SION, we encourage you to do so ahead of the webinar so you can start benefiting from a faster, simpler and more transparent experience.
