Next up, stroll east to the Liebieghaus, where you can enjoy over 3,000 works exemplifying some of the most stunning sculptural art of the past 5,000 years, including a marble sculpture of Athena (c. 450 BC) and the 16th century terracotta altar by Andrea della Robbia.
Before you leave, the charming Liebieghaus Café is the perfect place for a little pick-me-up. Otherwise, it’s on to the legendary Städel Museum for a look at European art from the Middle Ages to today, with works from world-famous Masters like Botticelli, Rembrandt, Monet and Picasso, as well as Gerhard Richter and Yves Klein.
Moving on, pay visits to the eponymous museums ofCommunication, Architecture, Film andWorld Cultures for insightful and interactive permanent and temporary exhibitions. The Museum of World Cultures alone houses around 67,000 artefacts.
The Museum of Applied Art is next, where you’ll find arts and crafts from the 12th to the 21st century from all over the world. The Icon Museum, meanwhile, showcases religious art and icons from the 15th to the 20th century.
